Adolescent Literacy

Recognizing states' needs to address adolescent literacy comprehensively, the Center is working on a number of fronts.

In collaboration with the Center on Instruction, the NECC Adolescent Literacy team is integrating research with the principles for action and research presented in Reading Next.

The Adolescent Literacy team has also scheduled a meeting on April 12 with representatives from the New England states to discuss Academic Literacy Instruction for Adolescents, a newly released resource from the Center on Instruction. At the meeting, participants will examine the document's implications for policy and practice, and outline next state-level steps. Rhode Island SEA staff members have volunteered to host this event at the Rhode Island Department of Education.
