New Hampshire

NECC has provided technical assistance to a statewide taskforce of education leaders working to lead the implementation of RTI across New Hampshire since early 2007, helping the NHDOE and colleagues convene the RTI Task Force regularly, developing a common understanding of RTI, and crafting an RTI framework and strategic plan for implementing RTI in NH. In June 2009, the task force was reborn as a Professional Learning Community (NH RTI PLC) to provide leadership support for ongoing RTI implementation; NECC will assist closely in its work.

New Hampshire is committed to moving forward with plans developed for its (unsuccessful) bid for Race to the Top funding; NECC is working with a Commissioner-created task force of 60 education stakeholders from across the state to establish a framework that will drive advances in teaching effectiveness. NECC is also working with the NH DOE to facilitate the work of a State Literacy Team to revise and develop a State Literacy Plan in accordance with the USED Striving Readers initiative and is providing technical assistance to the NH DOE on the Common Core Standards for mathematics and related instructional practices for teachers.

Previous NECC work with New Hampshire involved piloting and refining the use of the Support for School Improvement (SSI) tool developed by the federal Comprehensive Center on Innovation and Improvement and assisting the NH DOE on its Accountability Task Force, its Instructional Coaching initiative, and its Quantitative Literacy Action Plan (QLAP). NECC was also active in the NH DOE's Vision for High School Redesign: Moving from High Schools to Learning Communities and the New Hampshire Literacy Action Plan.
